WelcomeWelcome to Kindergarten. We have had a busy beginning of the year. We are learning the rules and our new friends. We are glad that you are in our class and I am glad to be a part of this. My name is Linda Williams and I am subbing while Mrs. Frech adds to her family. I have a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from UMBC and am working towards my M.A. in Early Childhood Special Education. I grew up in Ellicott City and attended St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbia. I live in Randallstown with my husband-Fred and 2 black labs-Angel and Max. I look forward to my time with St. Paul and the Kindergartners.

September We are learning about each other, how to solve problems, and being good friends and listeners. We are learning about the Creation story and songs that relate how Jesus loves us. We began the Letter People- Mr. M and Ms. T. The children are doing well with the letter sounds and handwriting. We are learning about sorting and classification. We also started going to Music, Computer, and P.E. Our themes were Apples, School, Family, and the Five Senses. We had a tasting party-some tastes were good and some were not our favorites. We invited grandparents to a special \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"tea\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" and recited some rhymes and poems we have learned.

October We have started a new letter person-Ms. F. We are learning about patterns and graphing in math and our themes are Fall, Fire Safety, Pumpkins, and Halloween this month. We are having a Fall party on Friday, October 31. We have also met another Letter Friend, Mr. N as well as learning the numerals 1-5 to count and write. This has all tied in with graphing, categorizing, sorting, and more or fewer which we have learned in the previous chapters. We are learning sight words along with our Letter People units. There is alot of excitement in our Kindergarten. We have also learned about Joseph and Moses.

NovemberThis month we have learned about the letter people Mr. H., Ms. A, and Ms. P. We have learned more sight words, that A is a vowel and called a \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"letter light\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" and that a word is not a word without a vowel. Some friends are reading and blending sounds to read words like nap, mat, and man. In math, we are learning about the numbers 0-10, using one to one correspondence, comparing numbers, and writing them. We have practiced for the Christmas program and are singing very well. Our friends have learned the words very quickly. Our friends have been improving their handwriting also. They are very proud of their hard work. Our themes for the month were Native Americans, Food Groups, and Thanksgiving. The students brought in vegetables and put them through a food processor to make stone soup. We talked about many things for which we are thankful. Our Jesus Time units included Moses leading the Israelites, Joshua arriving in the promised land, and Gideon winning a battle with his secret weapon, God! As you can see we had an exciting month.

December It is that joyous season again. We have been very busy practicing for the Christmas program. The friends are doing a great job singing and reciting their special poem. We have learned about the letters Z and B. We will learn about one more Letter friend (I) before our Christmas break. Our friends have been learning more word families and are recognizing the everyday words in all the reading we have done. They notice the words everywhere. They are becoming good readers. We also read over 100 books with the Book It program and 100 books will be donated by Scholastic Books to a needy school. Yeah Kindergarten.!! The math skills for numbers up to 31 as well as graphing and patterns. comparing numbers, greater and fewer are the concentration this month. Our handwriting is improving very nicely and the friends are showing great work habits.
